I’m a believer in the idea that Godhood consists of the perfect union between a man and a woman, united for eternity in a perfect harmony of love and respect.
If God is LOVE, how could that LOVE be either male or female alone?
So the entire process of becoming perfect, as God is and as Jesus commanded us to be (See Matthew 4: 48) begins in this life, sometimes through marriage, and sometimes not. It depends on God’s knowledge of the individual and what might be best for them, as well as upon the choices made by individuals. Thankfully, this process of perfecting ourselves in love continues into the next life.
We don’t know that much about this “matchmaking” process, whether in this life or the life to come. However, I believe that each of us can focus our faith on the process of becoming more loving and thus more like God whether or not we have a companion in this life and whether that companion is eternal or not.
Those who do will be, I’m confident, blessed with their righteous desires for eternal life, at one with an eternal companion in that perfect unity so earnestly yearned for.
